PKR duo say no to ACA

KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 11, 2007): Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) vice-president R. Sivarasa and Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s personal assistant Sim Tze Tzin would rather be jailed than expose the source of a controversial video clip that implicates the judiciary.

Sivarasa said they were willing to serve a jail term “so as to honour our promise to protect” the source’s identity and ensure the person’s safety.

Speaking to reporters today after being questioned by the Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA), both Sivarasa and Sim reiterated they would only reveal the source of the video clip showing lawyer V.K. Lingam brokering the appointment of judges if the source agreed.

The ACA had in an Oct 4 notice warned both Sivarasa and Sim that under the ACA Act 1997, they could be jailed for two years or fined RM10,000 or both if they did not comply with its demand for the source to be revealed.

The deadline for the duo was today.

Sivarasa said he and Sim presented a written reply to the ACA today but were not told if they would be arrested.

“It feels like a rope around our neck which they can pull at anytime,” said Sim.

I agree with Sim, I am not sure whether this is good news or not. They might be having dinner and *wham* door bursts open and men rush in to take them away. I’m keeping my fingers crossed, hoping that the October 4th notice was a scare tactic and nothing more.

Hmm I just realised that The Sun finally printed VK Lingam’s name! So far only NST had done so – c’mon Star, be brave and print the name too!
